What can I expect during my first session?<\/h4>
\n

Before our first session, we\u2019ll connect by phone (or Zoom) so that I have a basic understanding of your situation and needs.<\/p>\n

This means that during your first session and any subsequent ones, the time we spend together will be customized to meet your needs and priorities.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve already decided on your next career or job then our first session might be a working meeting where we improve your resume and\/or cover letter, or LinkedIn profile, or practice answering realistic interview questions.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re unsure of what type of career or job makes sense for you, we\u2019ll start with a short test (psychometric assessment) and a structured interview.<\/p>\n

Then I\u2019ll have enough information to devise some viable options for us to discuss and for you to consider during a second session.<\/p>\n

These options are meant as a starting point or springboard, you\u2019re not obligated to pursue those suggested options. In many cases, clients have selected one of those options and been pleased with the results.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

What would my second session look like?<\/h4>
The second session will pick up where the first one left off.<\/div>\n

If the first session was the assessment using a structured interview then the second will be feedback based on that assessment.<\/div>\n

I will give you insights on how you might build your future career or how to seek out job opportunities AND things to avoid.<\/div>\n

In addition, I\u2019ll share some viable, well-researched options for you to consider.<\/div>\n

As I mentioned earlier, these options are meant as a starting point or springboard; there\u2019s no pressure or time limit to pursue those suggested options (but, I\u2019ve many clients who have).<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

I\u2019ve been stuck a career rut for a long time. What do you do differently that will help me? What exactly is I\/O psychology anyway?<\/h4>

I\u2019ll answer your last question first. And to do that, I\u2019m going to turn into a science wonk for a second to share a definition of I\/O psychology: it is the scientific study of human behaviour in the workplace and applies\u00a0psychological<\/strong> theories and principles to organizations. My field focuses on increasing workplace productivity, culture, and related issues such as the physical and mental well being of employees.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s why I\/O makes an enormous difference!<\/p>\n

I tackle career ruts differently than other career coaches. I use theory and practice to solve my clients\u2019 problems. More than career coaching, it\u2019s career psychology<\/em>.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been using my specialization in I\/O psychology at the doctoral level for over 20 years to solve practical problems in employee development, human resources, leadership development, recruitment, and the assessment of job applicants\u2019 ability. I understand what happens in practice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Many of my clients want to make a graceful exit from a job situation that isn\u2019t going well.<\/div>\n
