Do you feel it too? This season, people are marching to a different beat, going against the status quo and insisting on progressive changes in many aspects of life. For the first time that I can remember, the movie theatres have been packed with excitement for a film in which gender and racial equality are explicit and on display without apology. Black Panther has been called “Revolutionary” by Rolling Stone magazine. “Black Panther is the grown-up Marvel movie we’ve been waiting for,” says TheVerge.com.

My Favourite Word of 2018 so far: Neurodiversity

Neurodiversity is a hot topic, and that tells me we really are living in a time of incredible change. I’m thrilled and fascinated by the growing inclusion movement, for people who have been denied meaningful employment due to perceived intellectual differences. Neurodiversity refers to neurological differences such as attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity (ADHD), being on the autism spectrum and dyslexia, and how people with those labels have so much to offer in the workplace too. Have a look at this article that explains Neurodiversity in more detail. Let’s Talk!   The places where we work are changing, and so are the faces of the people you will find within the workforce. Navigating these changes can be exciting for some and bring out anxiety and fear in others. If the new workplace realities are bringing you down instead of up, some career coaching (or HR services) might be the answer.  Whether you are interested in improving your own career or strengthening your team, you’re in the right place.

What Does It Mean to Demonstrate Authentic Leadership?

What Does It Mean to Demonstrate Authentic Leadership?

Inexperienced leaders must recognize the difference between playing the “character” of what they think a leader should be and what authentic leadership is. This requires self-reflection and intentionally developing a genuine leadership style based on their own strengths, values, and a keen understanding of the team’s dynamics. Otherwise, their approach will seem hollow or one-sided and come across as inauthentic.

Including Gen Z, four generations in the workplace. What’s the secret to making it work?

In today’s dynamic workplace, organizations are navigating a unique era in which the workforce spans four distinct generations Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, to the emerging Generation Z or “Gen-Z.” With each generation bringing its own set of values, skills, and work styles to the table, building an effective, cohesive multigenerational team presents opportunities and challenges.

Exploring the Consequences of Microaggressions in the Workplace

Exploring the Consequences of Microaggressions in the Workplace

During past training sessions, I’ve provided empirical and concrete examples of how discrimination and microaggressions can hurt more than the intended victims. Here, I’ll share one clear example, inspired by a recent TV interview, of how microaggressions and chronic mistreatment can impair retention and hurt the majority.
